The annual Church Picnic Potluck is scheduled for Sunday, August 19 after service beginning at 11:30 am. at Tacoma’s Franklin Park. U.S.S. will provide hotdogs, buns, condiments, water, and coffee. Games for adults and children will begin at 1 pm. Sign-ups will begin on Sun., July 15.
Picnic Coordinator Karalee Ray requests these items:
- A truck or van to haul seven of our folding tables to Franklin Park by 10:30 am, and return them to The Spire afterward.
- Two BBQs - propane, gas or electric, with extension cords (there are two electric outlets).

School Supply Drive
We will be giving new school supplies to our community’s children to help them succeed in school, which is just around the corner.
Please consider donating backpacks, crayons, scissors, notebook paper, glue, etc.
School supplies can be brought to Sunday service or the Church Office during office hours, beginning July 22.

Class Begins July 9
Join Rev. Jeffrey in looking at one of India’s masterpieces of spiritual wisdom and poetry.
In the 5-week class, discuss how to go beyond attachment, pleasure and pain and become centered in the Immortal Self within.
Share the fun and deep exploration of our true nature on Monday evenings from 7 - 9 pm at The Spire beginning July 9.
Books are available Sundays at the Bookstore.
Joseph Campbell - “Inward Journey: East and West”
Tuesdays, beginning July 10
Join us in a 5-part discussion series and share the knowledge and wisdom of Joseph Campbell with Scott Davidson.
Classes are at The Spire on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm on July 10 and 24; Aug. 7 and 21, and either August 21 or Sept. 4.
No reading required.
We will listen to Campbell lectures and discuss what comes up within each of us. Campbell identifies the universal themes in world mythology and cultural differences in world view of major religions and how they interpret universal mythic symbols.
Rev. Karen Hamilton will lead Drumming Circle on first Tuesday’s beginning on Aug. 7 at 7 pm.
Come join us in the Fireplace Room at the Spire and experience a gateway to going deeper in meditation. It’s simple - no complex rituals, no complex images. Just show up. No drum necessary.
Rev. Karen recently served as Minister at Unity of North Kitsap, after working as our Unity Volunteer Coordinator during the Dumas Bay days.

Congregational Care Team
In keeping with the values we have of serving others, living the truths we know, and taking action on them, a group of volunteers has formed to provide assistance and comfort to individual congregants with urgent, temporary needs. The “Congregational Care Team” offers:
- Temporary assistance for a person with an acute illness
- Delivery of resources and supplies
- Driving congregant to an appointment or other destination
- Providing moral support in difficult times
