Membership

Being a member means that you are entitled to participate in the congregation’s governance and decision-making. The most significant change is in how that person feels about the congregation. The community is no longer “them,” but “us,” no longer “theirs,” but “ours.” It is a powerful and wonderful internal shift that calls us to deeper connection and service.

Membership at Unity of South Sound is not required, but if you feel connected to the community and want to support the mission, becoming a member is the next step. We welcome people of all religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, economic status, and race to join in. As a member, you make a heartfelt commitment to be an active part of the community and participate in the services, classes, and social gatherings. We encourage spiritual growth through practices like prayer, meditation, service, giving, and study.

Unity Basics Class

Have you ever wondered what Unity is about, who we are, where we came from and what we believe? This class will answer those questions and more, an opportunity to find out more about Unity, our roots, our basic guiding principles, the importance of being of service to the ministry you are making a commitment to in membership, and an intro into our core teachings of Prosperity and Prayer!

This 2-part class is an introduction to Unity, with other newer folks and current members, facilitated by Rev. Meghan Smith Brooks and last about 2 hours. Expect meaningful and fun connection and conversation as well as a beginning orientation to the church and our core teachings. In this interactive session there will also be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

As a prerequisite to membership, those who choose to join the Church will be invited to attend a special New Member Sunday where they’ll be honored by the whole congregation in a special membership welcoming ceremony. Keep an eye on the event page or the weekly e-news for the next date. For more information, email office@unityofsouthsound.org.
