At Unity of South Sound our dedicated Minister and Chaplains offer profound and impactful prayer support to individuals seeking guidance. They are here to affirm and firmly believe that your highest good is unfolding in every aspect of your life, irrespective of external appearances or circumstances. Whether you aspire to vibrant health, enriching relationships, career accomplishments, financial abundance, or any other desire, we hold the belief that all good things are attainable through our alignment with the Spirit.
What is a Unity Chaplain?
Prayer Chaplains are available to lovingly listen, hold spiritual space, pray from the heart, and keep in confidence all that is shared. They are members of the congregation who receive training. Being a Unity prayer chaplain is a way to express one’s divine potential while achieving deeper spiritual fulfillment.
Those interested in serving as a prayer chaplain are invited to pray about the calling. Stepping up to this sacred service is also stepping up to that next level of spiritual growth. For more information about the program and to find out when the next training will be held, please contact us.
What is Affirmative Prayer?
Unity practices the art of "affirmative prayer," which goes beyond pleading, supplicating, or negotiating with God. Instead, it entails establishing a profound connection with the divine spirit within and confidently affirming positive beliefs regarding the intended outcome.
Affirmative prayer is the same method of prayer Jesus taught when he said, “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24).

For more than 130 years, affirmative prayer has been key to the Unity mission. The Unity Prayer Ministry (Silent Unity), prays with people of all faiths around the globe each year. Your prayer request is a sacred honor and trust. All prayer requests are kept private and confidential. You can make a prayer request online or speak with a prayer associate by phone. There is never a charge for prayer.

A core mission of Unity of South Sound is to wholeheartedly embrace every individual with love and inspire their spiritual awakening. We empower and support each person's exploration of the Self - the inherent presence of the Indwelling Christ within us. We facilitate this transformative journey through Sunday celebration services, mid-week meditations, classes, self-directed spiritual practices, community gatherings, and spiritual counseling.
Spiritual counseling focuses on activating the transformative power of your innate Divinity to initiate the healing process. Whether you seek resolution for emotional, physical, relational, prosperity, or existential challenges, our primary focus is to help you become aware of and nurture the indwelling Healer and Guide.
Please note that spiritual counseling is not intended to replace psychological counseling or therapy. However, it can complement and enhance the healing process, either independently or in conjunction with psychological counseling. Typically, spiritual counseling involves no more than three sessions.

Spiritual Counseling Form
We at Unity practice what we call “Spiritual Counseling”. By that we mean that our reliance is on the Spirit that is within all things. We especially refer, by that term, to the Christ Spirit that is within you. Our emphasis, therefore, is different than those who give the more traditional treatments of mind and body, for our premise is “it is not I, but the Christ (Spirit) within who does the work.”
As your counselor spends time with you, she or he will be in a prayer consciousness, always knowing that you are filled with love, surrounded with light and divinely guided to your highest good. Her or his prayer will be that you find a new realization of the “Truth that makes you free.” If you do not receive answers during your consultation, keep your mind open and receptive because you are being held in prayer and “light will shine upon your path” – you can count on that!
Please clearly consider and define your challenge within yourself before you meet with your counselor. Then write it plainly and briefly in the space provided at the bottom of the page where it says, “A brief statement, etc.”
While the details of your situation are, of course, important, please remember that our approach is not psychoanalytical. Spirit aligns us with the details, the needs and the answers, so there is little reason to take more than fifty minutes to an hour. Also, if you feel the need for more than three or four consultations, seeking aid from a professional in another field may be more appropriate.
Your part in this process is to do the daily prayer work, read supportive literature, attend services and follow your guidance!
The fee for this service is determined by you (a normal amount is usually between $50-100 per session, depending on your personal circumstances). You are perhaps familiar with the Universal Spiritual Principle of giving and prosperity. “As you give so shall you receive.” Your free-will offering gift of love naturally opens your heart to Spirit so that Spirit may more easily bring your guidance and your good to you. Please give your love-offering donation to your spiritual counselor at the close of your session.
